I learned something about eye drops today.
They’re tested for efficacy on bunnies. Specifically, the eyes of the bunnies. Even more specifically, they apply the prospective eye drop, suck the aqueous humor out of the rabbit’s eye, then they can assay the resulting liquid.
(The eye will have been removed from the rabbit by this point and, concurrently, the rabbit will have been removed from this Earth.)
We got shown a graph of aqueous humor drug concentration. Every data point is 3-5 dead bunnies. Strangely, this is not the most depressing graph I’ve seen all day. (See “Justin Bieber popularity over time”)
So at the end of the day in your pharmaceutical testing lab, there’s a pile of dead bunnies. As far as I know, there is not a pile of dead baby bunnies, but I can’t imagine a gaggle of baby bunnies being too happy upon seeing the other pile of bunnies.
In conclusion, Ben Stein is a monster.
